Bitterroot Timber Frames has a well-equipped, professional timber yard where our projects can be pre-built offsite. This enables us to produce high-quality homes and commercial projects. The massive Durfeld logs used in this project are otherworldly in their girth. They were imported from British Columbia, Canada, and some of the logs weigh 4,000 pounds and measure 32 inches in diameter.
No steel supports were used in the frame of the house. The logs are structural, some spanning 2 stories high. The Durfeld logs make a unique statement. Combined with Bitterroot Timber Frames' signature post and beam construction, the house has a modern rustic style.
The house is so named because of its small front door, which is sheltered beneath massive logs.
